Zero Waste Consulting

Companies initiate zero programs for a variety of reasons: economic benefits, customer demand | product differentiation, it is “the right thing to do,” to name a few. The U.S. Green Building Council’s TRUE Zero Waste Certification ensures integrity is established and maintained via written corporate policies, material management practices, procurement procedures, and effective communication tools.

Pursuing the TRUE certification may seem overwhelming with the multitude of point categories impacting the organization’s entire spectrum of administration, management & operations. Holly Elmore Consulting (HEC) simplifies the certification process into a manageable, time-lined roadmap supported by specific action points. Below are available (HEC) zero waste consulting packages:

Zero Waste Certification Review

A simple package for facilities choosing to pursue U.S. Green Building Council TRUE Zero Waste Certification. The package includes a facility review via a pre-visit conference call and an on-site visit. A certification checklist summary is provided of completed points with recommended steps for achieving certification.

Cost: $3,500.00, plus travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

Once a Zero Waste Certification Review is complete, the following consulting packages are available:

Zero Waste Policy Development

A strong, published Zero Waste Policy, including Environmentally Preferred Purchasing guidelines, is the foundation of the TRUE zero waste certification. Based on the Zero Waste Certification Review, HEC drafts a Zero Waste Policy book tailored to the organization and designed to earn certification points.

Cost: $2,500.00, plus travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

Key Property Management Contract Review

Waste|recycling hauling, janitorial and landscape contract provisions directly influence a facility’s ability to achieve zero waste. Contracts provisions impact the program’s ROI (return on investment) and possibly prevent zero waste practices (e.g. when material ownership shifts from the facility to the hauler). HEC reviews the respective contracts and provides a summary of provisions related to zero waste program implementation. The client is responsible for providing copies of executed contracts.

Cost: $1,200.00, plus travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

In-House Foodservice Zero Waste Review & Recommendation

For facilities with in-house foodservice operations, there are a plethora of applicable zero waste certification points, some easy wins and others challenging. HEC outlines an action plan for achieving foodservice operation zero waste along with supporting cost-analysis and implementation recommendations. The review addresses catered meetings and events hosted at the facility as well as employee breakroom practices.

Cost: $2,500.00, plus travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

Zero Waste Certification Roadmap Development

Once the previous packages are complete, HEC develops a comprehensive Zero Waste Certification Roadmap including detailed, time-lined tasks.

Cost: $1,500.00, plus travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

HEC is available for continued zero waste consulting via client-tailored packages or on an hourly basis. Retainer-based consulting is available for clients who choose a “hands-on” approach.

The quoted prices are per facility. Discounts are available for multi-facility contracts, based on the common ground between respective buildings and operations.
